Angola: Oil Rich and Rebuilding

Angola, on southwestern Africa's Atlantic coast, has significant oil reserves making it one of Africa's largest oil producers. After a 27-year civil war ending in 2002, Angola has worked to rebuild infrastructure and diversify its economy.

Luanda, the capital, is one of Africa's most expensive cities due to oil wealth and reconstruction. Angola's Atlantic coastline features beautiful beaches, while inland areas include highlands and part of the Congo Basin. Portuguese colonial influence is evident in language, architecture, and culture.

Angolan culture reflects Bantu traditions and Portuguese influences, with kizomba music gaining international popularity. Despite oil wealth, many Angolans remain poor, highlighting inequality challenges. The country is working to develop agriculture, tourism, and manufacturing to reduce oil dependence while preserving rich cultural traditions.
