Cameroon: Africa in Miniature

Cameroon, in Central Africa, is called "Africa in Miniature" for its geographic and cultural diversity. With coastal beaches, rainforests, savannas, and mountains, plus both French and English official languages, Cameroon encompasses African diversity.

Mount Cameroon is West Africa's highest peak and an active volcano. The country's over 250 ethnic groups create remarkable cultural diversity. Yaoundé is the capital, while Douala is the economic center and largest city. The Waza National Park supports diverse wildlife. Cameroon's rainforests are part of the Congo Basin.

Cameroon's bilingualism reflects French and British colonial heritage, with tensions between regions. The Indomitable Lions soccer team has been successful, and Cameroonians are passionate about football. Makossa and bikutsi music styles originated in Cameroon. Despite oil and agricultural resources, corruption and conflict in English-speaking regions create challenges.
