Dominica: Nature Island

Dominica (not to be confused with Dominican Republic), called the "Nature Island," is the Caribbean's most mountainous and least developed major island, preserving pristine rainforests, waterfalls, and volcanic features.

Boiling Lake, the world's second-largest hot spring, is reached through challenging hikes. Dominica has 365 rivers, hot springs, and dramatic mountain scenery. Morne Trois Pitons National Park is a UNESCO World Heritage site. The island has the Caribbean's only remaining population of indigenous Kalinago (Carib) people.

Ecotourism attracts nature lovers and divers. Dominica lacks white sand beaches, sparing it mass tourism. Hurricane Maria (2017) devastated the island but rebuilding continues with climate resilience focus. Dominicans maintain cultural identity distinct from neighbors, with nature preservation central to identity.
