Serbia: Heart of the Balkans

Serbia, a landlocked Balkan nation, has a turbulent history and rich cultural heritage. As a successor state to Yugoslavia, Serbia has worked to rebuild and establish its identity in the post-Yugoslav era.

Belgrade, the capital at the confluence of the Danube and Sava rivers, is known for its vibrant nightlife, fortress, and resilient spirit despite being destroyed and rebuilt numerous times. Serbian Orthodox monasteries preserve medieval frescoes and manuscripts, while Serbian epic poetry and folk music express national identity.

Serbians are known for hospitality, strong family ties, and passion for sports, particularly basketball, tennis (Novak Djokovic), and volleyball. Serbian cuisine features grilled meats, ajvar (red pepper spread), and rakija (fruit brandy). Serbia continues pursuing European integration while maintaining cultural distinctiveness.
